Fender Clips can be modified in case you need a tighter or looser fit due to the many types of extrusions from manufacturers.
All of our Fender clips are made from PETG material
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) can be boiled and reshaped because its glass transition temperature (~75°C–80°C) is lower than the 100°C of boiling water, making it flexible and malleable. Boiling water acts as a precise heat source for thermoforming or reforming, though a heat gun is more precise for targeted reshaping.
Key Considerations for Reshaping PETG:
Softening Temp: PETG softens at around (167°F–176°F), allowing boiling water (100°C) to make it pliable.
Technique: Submerge the PETG part in boiling water for several minutes until it becomes pliable, then shape it as desired
Best Uses: Boiling is ideal for bending flat parts, fixing warping, or conforming parts to surfaces
Alternative Heat Sources: A heat gun or oven can also be used if higher, more precise temperatures are needed
Important Tips:
Safety: Wear protective gloves, as the water and plastic will be hot.
Deformation: Be careful not to hold it in boiling water for too long or apply too much pressure, or it may lose its original shape entirely.
Drying: Ensure the part is completely dry after a water bath to avoid imperfections, particularly if you are applying further heat, notes
